Australian artist Jeremy Geddes creates paintings that are dramatic, compelling, and highly realistic. An inspiration in one of his series includes an astronaut be placed strangely in an urban environment. His narratives may even appear to be shocking or frightening at times. What is signature in his work is his use of light and space, which conjure up imagery of my favorite artist, Caravaggio. Now he's not as good as Caravaggio, obviously, but cut him some slack, his paintings definitely make you take a second look. Geddes has also received fame and awards for his illustrating techniques for the comic Doomed. -John Sebelius
